Agneta, Portland Place to Baroness Grantham Describes the marriage of Jemima Yorke and Reginald Pole Carew, "The Bride was, as usual, dressed in white satin (an Italian night-gown) a very fine worked book Muslin Apron laced with Mechlin lace, Handkerchief and Ruffles of the same, and a white spanish hat with white Feathers". The groom's outfit consisted of, "an Emperor's Eye, a worked sattin waistcoat, black etc., and fine laced Ruffles". Caroline was a bridesmaid, and wore a moch crape Levite, with a white crepe Spanish hat and white feathers. The company consisted of Sir Joseph Yorke, Lady Yorke, Mrs James Yorke, Captain Pole, Mrs Buller and Lady Copley and her daughters. The couple then left for Sunning Hill, in a heavy shower, and the guests went home. They are to be presented on Thursday, and her daughter Caroline will attend. The Jemima will be dressed in white satin trimmed by Madame Beauvais with gold crape. Mr Carew has given her a pair of earrings and a portrait of himself set in diamonds, and also an elegant enamelled watch, set with pearls given by Mr Carew. They have taken a furnished house. She speculates that Mr John Yorke may marry Miss Mills. Discusses the current fashions; "There are Caps with veils which hang behind below the waist - Handkerchiefs which contains several Ells of Gause or Muslin and leave no form of neck or shoulder - The Hoops very small but the Nips enormously large, the peals of the stays and gowns immoderately long". Mentions a scandal in Lord Courtney's family, and Mr Onslow has returned from France and dined with the Prince of Wales. Also mentions receiving a letter from her son Sydney, which was dated 28 September, and that Anne Capel recently married Mr Halifax. She cannot recommend a good nanny to her. Complains she has been suffering from rheumatism for the last 3 weeks.
