- TitleFrederick, Edinburgh to Baroness Grantham, Newby Hall Provides her with an account of their journey. They travelled from Newcastle to Minto, which they found extremely beautiful, as the house was situated at the top of glenn, surrounded by a bank of woodland. They visited Mr Eliot at Wells, and saw Melrose Abbey on their journey to Edinburgh, commenting, "It is a fine ruin and affords some wonderfully perfect and rich specimens of Gothic Architecture". He does not think he will be able to post any further letters between Edinburgh and Inverness.
