Asks if Lord Grantham or Monsieur Le Pierre can recommend a French cook to him. She comments, "An honest Joan of an English Cookmaid can roast and boil and make a dish nice and good as she thinks, with Plenty of Wine and Pepper, but Lord Polwarh must be entic'd to eat by something that has a delicate Taste, and yet is not inflammatory". Also asks her to acquire a pound of barley-sugar with lemon for her husband.
