Amabel to Mary Lord Polwarth is taking the waters for a second time, [possibly staying at Tunbridge Wells]. Mentions attending two balls, at Pinchbeck's rooms and Fry's rooms. Mr Tyson's Benefit Ball was full, and Lord Polwarth danced two minuets and she danced two country dances. Mr Douglas and the Crop family have attended the balls, and Mrs Carter and Mrs Montague have taken a house on Mount Sion. Lady Chesterfield is taking the waters for "the falling of one of her Eyelids". She is too busy to read the 'Cardinal de Retz' she brought with her, however she has managed to read some of the modern plays and minor poets, including Miss Hannah Moore and Mr Langhorne. Also mentions they have been plagued with wasps and was surprised to see two vipers whilst out walking. Comments upon the crisis in America.
