- Scope and ContentThanks her for her, and his mother's, letters. The frost has set in, and carriages have been changed for sledges, some of which are ornately adorned with velvet and gold. He describes the drivers, and mentions he has his own sledge and horses. Discusses the death of Paul I, Emperor of Russia, and his was disappointed with the coronation, commenting, "I assure you that the Fair at Silsoe affords annually ten times the amusement to the Actors and spectators". He is trying to learn Russian, but finds the grammar and pronunciation difficult. He has visited the Hermitage. Mr Ross is arranging the transport of his mother's vases.
