Includes details of their journey through Switzerland, including descriptions of the hills, mountains and glaciers. She also received a letter from Tom, posted in May, followed by the arrival of a messenger from Vienna with a sample of Vienna china. Provides an extract of the letter, in which he recounts dinner with the French ambassador, commenting, "His Secretaries are one and all the lowest, vulgarest set of Fellows I ever saw: Indeed all the French I have yet seen are exceedingly vulgar looking".
