    Statutory declaration by Mary, wife of George Howard of High Street, Eynesbury [Huntingdonshire], grocer: - she is 45; her grandfather was John Callcott who died on 11 Jul 1803 after, in his will of 8 Jul 1803, bequeathed to his wife Sarah 5/- per week charged on his real estate, including a freehold beerhouse in Hail Weston in occupation of Susan Page [sister of Mary Howard], which he devised to his daughter Dinah, wife of John Carter, for her life, remainder to her children as tenants in common; - Sarah Callcott was grandmother and Dinah Carter mother of Mary Howard; - Sarah Callcott died "many years ago"; - Dinah married John Carter in 1801 and he died intestate on 16 Jun 1836 in their house and was buried at Hail Weston on 19 Jun 1836; Dinah Carter died on 3 Sep 1868 at Hail Weston "as I know from having seen her lying dead in the house" ; - her father and mother had ten children "born alive", and one stillborn, those who lived being: Samuel; James; John; Sarah; Susan; Aaron; Sophia; Eliazar; herself and Charles; - Samuel Carter was born 15 Jul 1801; John carter was born 3 Apr 1804; Sarah Carter was born 24 Jul 1806; Susan Carter was born 10 Nov 1808; Aaron Carter was born 8 Feb 1811; Sophia Carter was born 8 Feb 1814; Eliazar Carter was born 7 May 1816; Mary Carter was born 27 Feb 1824; Charles Carter was born 27 Sep 1826 - all were entered in the family Bible except that of James who died "many years before I was born"; her parents were Baptists and none of their children were baptised except her sister Sarah; - Samuel Carter died in Apr 1854 and was buried on 7 Apr at Hail Weston; Sarah Carter died shortly after Mary Howard was born; - Sophia Carter married Samuel Bruce on 29 Nov 1842 at Hail Weston and died on 4 Nov 1846 at Hail Weston; - Eliazar Carter died on 4 Nov 1865 at Bedford; Charles Carter died on 6 Jun 1827 as noted in the family Bible; - Mary Howard (married George Howard on 19 Nov 1847), Aaron Carter, John Carter and Susan Page (married to William Page on 14 Dec 1857) were the only living children of John and Dinah Carter; - Samuel Carter died an intestate bachelor; James Carter died at less than three years old and John was thus eldest surviving son and heir at law; - her father was awarded 0a 1r 35p copyhold land in Hail Weston on 31 Dec 1839 and was occupied along with the freehold public house by Susan Page; - sworn before Samuel Day; - endorsed with note that in Chancery Day v.Day the declaration was exhibit D in affidavit of Frederick George Fitch
