  • Title
    Lucas, Castle to Grey (19) Encloses a letter from Lord Glengall regarding the illicit distillation of spirits. He has written to Mr Hitchcock, inquiring what precedent there has been that he should supply the Lord Lieutenant with copies, rather than originals, of reports. Mentions when the Constabulary depot in Dublin is completed Major Priestly will be out of work, however the late governor agreed that he could be made a Stipendary Magistrate. Also the county Down magistrates refuse to increase their constabulary. Informs him the Attorney General "thinks it not advisable to stir at present" regarding the 'Belfast Vindicator'.
