    Information of John Bell of Meppershall, yeoman and other substantial householders against Mary Tingley and Elizabeth Payne. '...are not persons of good name and fame nor honest conversation, but evil doers, do commit many outrages and misdemeanors in the night, are suspected to be pilferers and are otherwise likely to disturbe the peace, that they keep company with suspicious persons in the night and with persons of evil fame and report and that particularly on the 5th day of October last the said Mary Tingey and Elizabeth Payne with other persons of leud character met together in the night time, in an out-house, in the said parish of Meppershall, to commit acts lewdness disorder and drunkeness. so that many grievances and much damage is likely thereby to arise to the subjects of our lord the king. - The said John Bell therefore prayeth that Mary Tingey and Elizabeth Payne may find sufficient sureties for their good Behaviour. ' Mary Tingey and Elizabeth Payne brought before James Webster JP by warrent, deny charges but refuse to give any security.
