Grantham, St. James's to Fitzherbert, Paris (No 8, copy) Sends a draft of the Preliminary Articles. Fitzherbert to acquaint M. D'Aranda with having received them and present them in order that they may be signed. Fitzherbert to insist in a "most strenuous manner" on the acceptance of these articles. Grantham has repeatedly told M. Heredia how impossible it was to depart from the right established by the Treaty of Paris for His Majesty's subjects to cut and carry logwood and is not at liberty to allow any alteration on that article except by reducing the several articles to one.
