Grantham, Whitehall to Fitzherbert, Paris (private) M. de Heredia has arrived. Encloses a copy of Grantham's reply to a letter from Count Aranda. M. d'Aranda tried to persuade Grantham to give up the thoughts of any establishment on the Honduras coast. Grantham explained to M. de Heredia the difficulty of giving up that right. Other part of M. de Heredia's commission is to secure that stipulations of commerce. Grantham's letter to M. d'Aranda will show Fitzherbert how that is to be treated. M. de Rayneval says he is disappointed despite having obtained as much as could be expected if not more from the East India Company round Pondicherry and Karical, £30,000 per annum. The East India Company consent to "use their best offices" to obtain the above districts.
