- TitleGrantham, St. James's to Fitzherbert (No 26, copy) Encloses King's speech (not present) which Fitzherbert is to communicate to the French Minister. The addresses corresponding to it passed both Houses. The "Wisdom & Spirit of Parliament was never more conspicuous". There is a desire for peace but a determination to prosecute the war if terms are not satisfactory. Will see M. de Rayneval tomorrow to shape the Preliminaries into a form which may enable Fitzherbert to sign them.
