- TitleGrantham, St. James's to Fitzherbert, Brussels (No 10, copy) Fitzherbert's instructions were not as clear as Grantham would have wished due to lack of time. Fitzherbert is to ask for further information if necessary. Grantham has ordered the messengers Ogg and Lawgun to accompany Fitzherbert to Paris. He is to leave British affairs in Brussels in the hands of "some English Gentleman", if there is one, in whom Fitzherbert can confide. Fitzherbert's appointment in Brussels is to continue unless his present commission makes it necessary for a successor to be appointed. Fitzherbert is to make "proper compliment" to Their Royal Highnesses and the Ministers of the Low Countries and to assure them that it is not the King's intention to leave the Court of Brussels for any length of time without a British Minister.
