  • Title
Torrington, Brussels to Grantham Torrington in his reply to a letter from the Duke of Portland stated he wished to go to Spain on account of Lady Torrington's health. He asks whether Grantham thinks any change of Ministers will affect his appointment to the Court of Brussels and whether he can have leave of absence. He hopes Grantham or his successor will settle his expenses. He has transacted the King's affairs for nearly nine months gratis and has already missed a house "which would have suited" but did not dare to take it in these "unsettled times". As Torrington is now out of Parliament and does not intend entering politics again, he hopes he will be considered as a "new man" and that "no administration will bear me any enmity".
