- TitleJohn Milliquet, Dresden to Grantham (private) Thanks Grantham for the honour in leaving him in charge of His Majesty's affairs. He has received all the writings and papers Grantham ordered from Stepney before he left. Stepney settled accounts with Milliquet up to 30 September last, since then has not received pay of any kind. Asks for 40 shillings a day as Charge' des Affaires. Has served His Majesty in the military by sea and land since 1744 and has been at this court nearly 12 years and is now "for the fifth time charged with His Majesty's affairs". To find himself remaining under a young principal at Milliquet's stage of life is "very hard and galling". Milliquet believes that the Dresden Court would prefer him to a stranger in any capacity, as a resident or Charge' des Affairs.
