Grantham, St. James's to Eden, Copenhagen (No 10, draft) Has received confirmation of Eden's account in his No 19 of the proceedings of the Dutch frigates against some British vessels. Grantham will inform the British Minister at Stockholm. Eden is to supply Sir Thomas Wroughton with all the information he can collect on the subject and they are to acquaint each other and Grantham on the impressions made on both courts by these acts of violence. Eden's request for the release of prisoners was "very proper" and he hopes Wroughton's application for the same purpose will succeed. Some of the British ships may be brought by their captors to Danish ports. Eden is to ensure that they are restored to their proprietors. The King hopes "all the Neutral Nations, especially the Court of Denmark, will be sensible of this Violence committed by the subjects of a State that is party to the Neutral League." Refers to the case of the Jane, Captain Davidson, taken by a Dutch Privateer Encloses copies of their letters (not present). The King hopes the King of Denmark will "obtain satisfaction of the Dutch for this insult to His Territory."
