  • Title
Grantham, St. James's to Keith and Harris (No 7 Copy, Separate & Confidential) Fitzherbert will have communicated the step which the courts of France and Spain have taken in appealing to the mediation of the two Imperial Courts. It is impossible to say whether the mediators will assist at the signature of the Definitive Treaty. Grantham hopes that the interference does not delay matters or cause the introduction of anything new especially on the subject of the Neutral Code. Yet since it has been made, the King agrees in the plan which has been adopted. Grantham requests Keith and Harris to "inspire the Court at which you reside with all the Confidence which this Application deserves and to discover whether there is any intention of grafting upon it any new Point of Discussion". Hopes the Court of France does not "really wish either for delay or any addition to the articles already agreed upon".
