    (i) trustees of Theed Pearse dcd. (Theed Wm. & Jas.) (ii) Thos. Chas. Higgins of Turvey House esq. (iii) T.W. Pearse as Clerk of the Peace; recites:- Theed Pearse, late of Rye Close, by his will 1 Nov.1849 dev. resid. real estate (incl. messuage in St. Paul's sq.) to trustees to sell; he d. 9 May 1857; at Quarter Sessions 6 Ap. 1858, adjnd. to 4 May, two justices - T.C. Higgins & Hen. Littledale - presented that the Shire Hall was insufficient; this was endorsed 29 June 1858; it was resolved to purchase the Pearse house for 1,790; the justices entered, pulled down some buildings and erected others; -- all that piece of land in St. Paul's parish coloured red, with buildings thereon; and right of way coloured blue, giving access from square; plan in margin.
  • Original deed withdrawn by Legal Department to be sent to Lord Chancellor's Office as they form the root of title to the Bedford Magistrate's Court. It is hoped the originals will be returned in due course but in the mean time photocopies have been made and filed in place of the originals.
