  • Title
ATLAS OF CHESHAM ESTATE "Survey and Valuation of the Chesham Estate in the C. of Buckingham, 1802". Surveyors Kent, Claridge & Pearce, London. One page is devoted to a map of each tenant's property, even though this may only be a tiny area, and this is followed by a detailed description (including crops being grown), and a final remarks section - many far from complimentary! Each map is watercolour on paper and each has a finely drawn cartouche of entwined leaves, flowers, and ribbons. Page size of the book is 13" x 9" and scale of the maps is 6.66" = 1 mile. Includes additional pencil notes, e.g. on p. 16 "Mr. Davis says this Plan is all wrong".
