    Abstract of Title of Thomas Bridges and Edith his wife to freehold hereditaments in Wilshamstead: (I) lease and release by way of conveyance of 20 & 21 Mar 1837 Parties: (1) Thomas Bridges the elder of Wilshamstead, yeoman and Phillis, his wife; (2) Thomas Bridges the younger of Wilshamstead, shoemaker, eldest son of (1); (3) George Bennett of Wilshamstead, yeoman and John Greene of Ampthill, gentleman Reciting: - feoffment of 26 Oct 1797 from Robert Baker to Thomas Bridges the elder of cottage divided into two with all commons etc.; - (1) built two other cottages on same premises and, at inclosure of Wilshamstead had had land allotted in lieu of common rights; - (2) having been in peaceful possession for many years had disputed the right of (1) to it, the parties agreeing to convey premises to (3), (2) paying 20 consideration to (1) Operative Part: - to extinguish estates in tail of (2) etc. (2) paid 20 to (1) and (1) and (2) released (a)-(c) to (3) Property: (a) cottage divided into two cottages in occupation of R.Fowle and John Morgan, then Thomas Bridges the elder and Thomas Watts; (b) two cottages adjoining (a) built by (1) and in occupation of (2) and William Toll Morgan and bounded: W by highway; S by cottages of Alice Peacock; E by cottages of Thomas Glover; N by homestead of John Gilbert; (c) 1a 2r 17p in Wilshamstead, in occupation of (2) and lying between lands of George Morgan and John Liles Habendum: - to (3) upon trust for (3) to raise 100 by mortgage; - upon trust for (3) to apply monies to pay costs to William Rogers of Bedford, attorney for (1); to pay costs of John Greene, attorney for (2); to pay 10 to repair and insure (a)-(c); - upon trust for (3) during life of longest lived of Thomas Bridges the elder and Philis his wife and until repayment of 100 to collect rents of (a)-(c) and apply them to paying interest on 100, then to pay 5/- per week to survivor of (1), then to pay 5/- per week to (2); after death of survivor of (1) for (3) to be possessed of (a)-(c) (subject to mrotgage and charge of 20 to Mariah Bridges, youngest daughter of (1) if she survive her parents) to use of (2) (II) mortgage by demise for 1,000 years of 22 Mar 1837 from George Bennett and John Greene to Ann Woodward of Lidlington, widow on Ann Woodward lending 100 on security of (a)-(c) in (I) above (III) indenture of 16 Apr 1850 Parties: (1) Thomas Bridges the younger; (2) Samuel Cooper of Wilshamstead, labourer and Maria his wife (formerly Maria Bridges, spinster); (3) George Bennett and John Greene Reciting: - (II) above and that all money had been used save a balance of 27 of with 20 being left with William Rogers of Bedford, solicitor, to use for annuities and 7 towards keeping (a)-(c) in (I) in repair; - (1) held one cottage for use of which he was to keep up annuities and rents and profits of two other cottages amounting to 5/10/- had been applied to pay interest on mortgage and insurance premiums since 1849 leaving no balance in hand; - deaths of Thomas Bridges the elder and Phillis his wife; - William Rogers alleged that the 20 left with him had been expended in keeping up the annuities in consequence of failure of (1) to so do; - Maria Cooper was entitled to receive 20 on death of her parents and (1) had agreed to do so dependent on her and her husband giving up possession of a cottage they occupied in which Thomas Bridges the elder and Phillis had lived; - Ann Woodward had applied to (3) for repayment of the 100 mortgage and that John Greene had paid her 100 plus 2/10/- interest on 1 Apr 1850 from his own money; as a consequence (1) agreed to disentail the property and raise sufficient money to repay John Greene Operative Part: - for 20 paid to (2) they acquitted (1) and (3) and (a)-(c) in (I) from payment of the same and for 10/- (1) released (3) from any claim under trusts in (I) Covenants: - (2) to deliver premises occupied by them to (1); - (1) to disentail the premises and raise 102/10/- to pay to John Greene (IV) indenture of 29 May 1850 Parties: (1) Thomas Bridges and Edith his wife; (2) George Bennett and John Greene; (3) Ann Woodward; (4) Edward Coleman of Ampthill, grocer Reciting: - (I); - (II); - payment by John Greene to (3) of 102/10/- on 1 Apr 1850; - that (I) should serve to bar and extinguish estates in tail of Thomas Bridges; - doubt had arisen whether (I) would operate as a bar of estates in tail and in consequence of the deaths of Thomas Bridges the elder and Phillis his wife Thomas Bridges the younger had determined to bar any estate in tail vested in him and destroy all remainders expectant upon estate tail created by feoffment of 26 Oct 1797 Operative Part: - (4) paid 5/- to (1) and 10/- to (2); (1) and (2) released to (4) (a)-(c) in (I); - (3) quitclaimed to (a)-(c) to (4) Habendum: - (a)-(c) to (4) to use of (1) to use of children of (1); - term remaining of 1,000 to (4) in trust to attend the inheritance (V) mortage of 7 Oct 1852 by Thomas Bridges and Edith his wife to William Parkes of Caldecott [Cambridgeshire], servant on Parkes' lending them 100 at 5% interest on security of (a)-(c) in (I) (VI) further advance of 27 Dec 1853 by William Parkes to Thomas Bridges and Edith his wife of 20
