    Copy Will of 5 Dec 1798 of Samuel Chase, proved in PCC on 5 Mar 1803 - his body to be kept for one week before interment in a coffin made of "Heart of Oak" in the family vault he had had made at Meeting House yard, in Luton; - to his son Daniel Chase: close of pasture in Luton called Cains Close, otherwise Bottles Close; two closes of pasture in Luton in occupation of himself and George Hutchin, previously part of common field called Newlands; the closes having been purchased from Mary Sherlock, Thomas Butcher and others; - to John Chase a house in upper end of Castle Street, Luton, in occupation of William Higgs; three closes of pasture and piece of garden ground in Luton adjoining the house most of which was purchased from William Okey, the remaining part (the further close next to Bailey Field, lately inclosed by him) from Rev.Thomas Whitehurst,previously part of a farm now owned and occupied by Thomas Crawley. The house and ground was charged with payment of 400 to become part of his personal estate; - to his three grandchildren Samuel Chase, Elizabeth Chase and Harriet Chase (children of his late son Samuel Chase) three closes of pasture in Luton in occupation of himself and Benjamin Harrison, previously part of a field called Bridge Field, but many years ago inclosed with quick fences by testator; - to John Chase a copyhold tenement with blacksmith's shop in Wandon End, Kings Walden [Hertfordshire], in occupation of Edward Wilson; upon trust for sale, the monies to become part of his personal estate; - to Daniel Chase and John Chase and his daughters Elizabeth Goldsmith (widow of William Goldsmith, esquire), Sarah Sibley (wife of Thomas Sibley of Chiltern Green, gentleman) and Frances Barker (wife of Robert Barker of Walton [Surrey], esquire) farmhouse in Luton in occupation of Thomas Crawley and all other real estate as tenants in common; - to Daniel Chase 100 and all personal estate shared with him as part of a partnership account in and around Birmingham; - to Elizabeth Goldsmith 200; - to Sarah Sibley 130; - to his brother Daniel Chase of Wellingborough [Northamptonshire], gentleman 50 for mourning; - to Rev.Thomas Pilley of Luton 20; - to Mary Mason, widow, residing with him 50 is she lived with him at his death; - to Samuel, Elizabeth and Harriet, his grandchildren, 600 to be equally divided when they reach 21; - residue of his personal estate to be divided into 6 parts and divided among his children, the sixth part to be divided among his three grandchildren when they reached 21; - John Chase, Daniel Chase, Robert Barker, Thomas Sibley, Elizabeth Goldsmith and Leonora Neale of Luton, spinster, to be his executors and executrices - witnesses: John Griffiths; Leonard Hampson; Robert Wainwright
