Title
Examination of James Peat. On 30 October he went into barn to measure out a bushel of potatoes, and found the wheat scattered about and left with shovel in it. Some of boards on the front of the barn were loosened leaving hole big enough for a man to crawl through. Sat up with Stephen Cooper. At about 2 o'clock heard someone come in and fill a bag with wheat. Stephen Cooper asked who was there and threatened to hit the intruder with a stick. Person then answered `John Pepper'. They took him into custody and took him to Mr Sharp at Silsoe
