    Examination of Stephen Cooper. Mrs Mary Edwards, daughter-in-law to his master, Henry Sharpe, Silsoe, came to him with a message that his master's barn at Flitton had been broken open and some wheat stolen. Said Stephen and James Peat sat up in the barn on Sunday night. Between 1 and 2 in the morning they heard someone come through a hole in the front of the barn `& heard him rustling ye Corn into his Bag'. They could not hear him and heard him speak and say his name was John Pepper. Said John confessed that he had taken 3 pecks of wheat on Saturday last
