    Decision of Petty Sessional Division of Biggleswade that Charles Brown, William Jeeves, both 13 years old and James Kitchener, 11 years old, all of Arlesey did unlawfully steal half a peck of apples from Miss Georgianna Hailey's orchard. Report of Charles Payne, Baker at Arlesey, who saw the boys coming from Miss Hailey's orchard, down Spring Dean's Close and then across the railway line. The boys got over the railway gate and into Mr Trustram's meadow. They then took apples out of their pockets and started to divide them up. They ran away when Mr Payne appeared. He found the apples and returned them to Miss Hailey. Information of PC Robert King Stearn stationed at Arlesey. He was called to Miss Hailey's house after she reported that Brown, Jeeves and Kitchener had stolen some apples from her orchard. Each boy was imprisoned for one day and privately whipped 6 strokes with a birch rod.
