- TitleInformation of James Bone, Draper and Grocer at Wrestlingworth. William Bedford, aged 15, had been in his employ for about 1 month on approbation. When Bedford arrived he had 10/- pocket money with him. Frances Bone, wife of James Bone, had sold the boy several items from the Drapery Shop. James Bone wondered where the boy had got the money from and suspected he had taken it from the Grocery Shop. When James Bone asked William Bedford to show him his purse he said it was in the bedroom. Bone followed him to the bedroom to look for the purse. The purse contained 4/10 but another box contained 8/-. Bone asked Bedford in the presence of a policeman if he had been stealing from him and he replied 'Yes I have'. He said it was from the Grocery till. The policeman took him into custody and cautioned him. Report of PC George Bird at Wrestlingworth who had been requested to go to James Bone's shop. He heard Bedford confirm that he had taken the money out of Mr Bone's Grocery drawer. He took the boy into custody and charged him with stealing it. Imprisoned in the House of Correction, Bedford, for 1 month's hard labour.
