Information of Elizabeth Devereux, Singlewoman of Campton. She was going across Chicksands Common with Lucy Odell and 2 girls who had been visiting her father. They met John Devereux, Labourer of Campton. He put his arms around Elizabeth's waist and tried to throw her on her back on the grass. She struggled and got away but he slapped her face. He called all 4 girls 'bloody whores'. In struggling to get away from him Elizabeth's dress was torn. They went on towards Chicksands and Devereux followed them all the way. Settled.
