- TitleInformation and Application of Eliza Jeeves who was in service to Frank Powers, Baker of Blunham that Nathaniel Saunders, Painter of Blunham, was the father of her male bastard child. Nathaniel Saunders had come to mend some windows at the bakery. She went for a walk with him. She met him again at the Sandy Feast in July and 'had connection with him' in Sandy Mill Lane. She walked back to the Feast with Foot. Rose Gayler and Mrs Saunders were at the Feast. She met Saunders again at the Flower Show at Girtford in August and he took her home that night to stay with his grandmother after he 'had connection with her again'. They also went into Mrs Elliott's for a drink. Her child was born in April. She did not charge Foot with being the father of her child. She said the father was Saunders. Saunders said he would not pay for the child unless he was made to. She did not say that Foot was the father of her child. Rose Gayler of Girtford confirmed that Saunders and Jeeves went off for a walk together at the Sandy Feast and again at the Flower Show. Jane and Fanny Jeeves (no relation to Eliza) saw Saunders and Jeeves dancing together at the Sandy Feast and also in the close. Letter from Mrs Elliott saying that Jeeves was frequently in her house with different men.
