  • Title
Draft letter to David Willis, presumably by John Gotobed in answer to R6/63/28/36, heavily annotated with multiple crossings out, the text of which is ignored below: "Mr.Wallis has bought me your Letter of the 23rd Inst. What I proposed & stated to him & his Co trustee was this - That you should call a Court & be admitted as their Attorney (which may be done I suppose according to the Custom of the Manor without your having a Power of Atty) then upon receipt the copy of the admission I would prepare the surrender to the Duke and as it would be inconvenient to Mr.Wootton to come to Town that he should [unreadable] the Surrender before Mr.Davis at Ampthill and I would here take the Surrender of Mr.Wallis by virtue of a deputation from Mr.Davis which I would prepare but before this came before you must be first admitted to the Premises as their Attorney. In respect to that Estate of which the Term is expired there should be a new Grant but according to the Term of our Contract no fine is to be paid".
