To the high altar there 12d.. To the reparations of the bells there 12d.. To son Thomas Clerke 8 quarters of barley to be given to him within 8 years by testator’s son John Clarke, whom testator makes his executor. To Thomas also a shod cart, whichever was bought most recently, and he is to have it immediately on testator’s death. To son William Clerke 3 quarters of barley and a shod cart which testator bought at Roxston, and he is to get the cart within 2 years. To son Robert 3 quarters of barley and one shod cart to be given him at the age of 21 or on his marriage, and meanwhile the barley to be in a stock kept for Robert’s profit. To daughter Alis 6 quarters of barley to be given to her within three years. To daughter Margeret 3 quarters of barley to be given her in three years. To daughter Joane 3 quarters of barley to be given to her on her marriage or at the age of 21, and meanwhile the barley to be kept as a stock for her benefit. Executor to provide for her keep in meat, drink, clothing, as long as she is ruled by him. To son Thomas’ daughter Anne/Ame Clarke 6 quarters of barley, to be given to son Thomas within 6 years, and kept as a stock for her benefit, she to get the legacy on marriage or at age 21. Should she die before then, half of the legacy to be divided among Thomas’ other children, and the other half to be divided between testator’s other children. To son Thomas’ daughter Elizobeth Clarke a quarter of barley to be given to her within 6 years of testator’s death, and should she die under the age of 21 or before she is married, then half of her legacy to go to son Thomas’ other children, and half to be divided between testator’s surviving children. To testator’s sister Margeret Barbor a quarter of barley to be given to her within a quarter of a year of testator’s death. Should she die before then, the barley to go to William Barber’s sons William and John. To his loving wife Elizabeth Clerke £10 in money, also the lower chamber at the nether end of the hall, a mattress, a bolster, a pillow, a bedstead, 2 blankets, a coverlet, 3 pair of sheets, a coffer, 2 pewter dishes, 2 saucers, a candlestick, a brass pan, a brass pot, a trivet, 2 ale tubs, a little yielding vat, and a kimnel. Testator’s executor is to find her sufficient meat and drink at his own table, and sufficient fire in the hall during the whole time of testator’s years to come in his lease of Netherbury Farme without check or contradiction. If his wife is not contented to be kept by testator’s executor, then wife Elizabeth to have each week the milk of 2 good kine, and also a peck of good malt and a peck of good maslin for [?]bread for her finding with sufficient fire wood for her burning and baking, and also to have a sufficient room and fire in the hall daily and nightly at times needful to sit by the same fire during testator’s term in the said lease. Should wife remarry, then she is to have but £6 13s. 4d. with all the household stuff mentioned above and no meat or drinking or other finding at the hand of his executor. To all godchildren a bushel of barley each. Should any of his children William, Robert, Margerete or Joane die before they are married or reach the age of 21, that then their portion is to be divided among the survivors. Residue to son John Clerke, who is to be executor, and the supervisors to be Henry Fysher and Henry Nixe, to each of whom 3s. 4d.. Witnesses Thomas Ansell, Henry Fisher, Thomas Clerke.
