- TitleFolio 75d - William Franke of Sandey, made 7 May pr. 18 May 1557 . Soul to almighty God, our lady St. Mary and all the saints, and burial in the churchyard of Sandey. To the high altar there 12d.; to the bells 12d.; to St. Mary altar a white silk cloth; to the church of Sandy a white vestment, “my syrpleas” (presumably surplice), and a processioner. To testator’s mother a flecked cow, a half acre of rye, a rood of pease, and a featherbed which is to go to testator’s son on her death. To his mother each year a load of hay and 2 loads of wood out of his close called Fullinge Myle Close, and to his mother also an annual sum of 6s. 8d. out of the rent of testator’s house, and also the best ewe and lamb she shall choose. To his wife Jane 2 kine (a red and a black), 2 weaning calves, and all the goods she brought with her with all the stuff that she has made since she came. To son Richard the copyhold house where testator lives, and the copyhold fulling mills, and to him and his lawfully begotten heirs 13 acres of land in the fields of Temsford and Everton which testator purchased. Should son Richard die without leaving heirs of his body, then the 13 acres to go to the use of the poor people of the parish of Sandey for ever, in the care of the churchwardens of Sandey, and they to keep a yearly obit for testator and his friends. To son Richard also all the goods his mother brought with her to testator, and a cupboard, a folding table, a bench board, a chair, a brass pot, all testator’s house timber, a bedstead, a yearling calf, and a black weaning ox calf. To testator’s mother a bedstead and 2 [?]hogs. On the day of his burial 40d. is to be distributed. To every godchild 4d.. “Item to Joane Reston her Auntes gave to Agnes Reston her Awntes Red Kirtell. Item I gyve Ricke to my mother and William Pope”. To William Wilcockes of Gravenhurst all testator’s “tewelis” and to Edmund his son a steer bullock. Residue to be divided equally between wife Joane and son Richard, who are to pay debts. Executors William Wilcockes and Edward Bryten, each to have 5s.. Witnesses sir Thomas Blakisly curate, Thomas Brytten, Thomas Brawnsall, William Pope, John [?]Shereuwe.
