    Folio 64d - John Berrell of Marston Mortain, husbandman, made 4 Jan 1557 pr. 18 Mar. 1556/7.. Soul to almighty God, creator, saviour and redeemer, and to our blessed lady St. Mary, and the holy company of heaven, and burial in churchyard of Merston. To mother church of Lincoln 2d.; to high altar of parish church for tithes forgotten 4d.; to the upkeep of the bells 12d.; to the poor people of Marston 12d. to be distributed at his burial. To daughter Jhoon a brass pan and 2 pewter platters. To daughter Agnes a brass pot and 2 platters, both legacies to be given to them on their marriage day. To daughter Elizabeth his russet gown to be given on his death. To daughter Katerene the pot “hangell”. To son-in-law William Warlow testator’s best coat, best hose, best petticoat and best buckskin doublet. Of his two carts the best to son-in-law William Warlow if testator’s daughter Kateren outlives testator’s wife. If daughter should die before testator’s wife, then William to have the worst cart and testator’s wife Esabell to have the best. To wife Isabell all horses, beasts and sheep, and she and son-in-law William Warlow to divide the residue between them, and to be his executors.. Overseer Thomas Odell, who is to have 12d..
