    Folio 58d - Thomas Bell of Sowldrope made16 Feb.1551/2 pr. 22 May 1555. Soul to almighty God and the blessed company in heaven, and burial in churchyard of Souldrope. To the parson for tithes forgotten 4d.; to the poor men’s box 4d.; to the bells two bushels of barley; to the highways in Souldrope where most need is 5s.. To his brother Richard’s daughter Alis Bell £4 at the age of 16. To brother’s son John Bell 2 acres of barley and 2 acres of peas, 6 sheep and a red heifer with a white shoulder. To Elizabeth Luf 2 acres of barley, 2 acres of pease, 10 sheep and 2 bullocks. To Robert Luf 6 sheep, a bullock, one acre of barley, one acre of pease. To William Luf 2 ewes, 2 lambs. To Robert Burge a sheep. To Elizabeth Maskall one ewe and a lamb. To Thomas Smith and Richard Borde and Edward the Herd, to each of them a bushel of barley. To every godchild a ewe and a lamb. Half the lease of his farm to his brother John, that is to say two parts, and the third part to Thomas by the Reye for 7 years next coming and the 4th part is bequeathed to his brother’s son John Bell and to Elizabeth Luf for 7 years next following, and the said John and Elizabeth are to have all kinds of grain to sow their parts for the first year, and if the said Elizabeth marries within the said period of years, then John Bell, testator’s brother’s son, is to take her part and give her 20s.. At the end of seven years brother’s son John Bell is to have the share of Thomas by the Reye. Residue to be divided between his brother’s children for the health of the souls of testator and his mother and father and all Christians at the discretion of his executor, who is brother John Bell, with overseers William Cobe of Sharmbrooke and Thomas Hanger. Witnesses William Cobe of Sharnbrooke, Thomas Hanger and Henry by the Reye.
