    Folio 56 - George Joye of parish of St. Lawrence of Stepenleye made 3 Jan. pr. 5 Oct. 1556 Soul to God almighty, our lady St. Mary and the holy company of heaven, and burial in the church. To mother church of Lincoln 2d.. “To the upholding of the belles of Stepinglei church 12d.” To son John Joye the best pair of wheels, a cart body “that ys to make”, a two year old red bullock, 6 sheep, a great spit, an acre of rye, 2 tables, a pair of sheets, a “Chandler” and a platter. To daughter Anne Ioye 10 sheep, a pan and 3 pair of sheets, two platters, a table and frame. To daughter Joan Joye aheiffer, 6 sheep, the second pan, 4 pair of sheets, a bed and all that belongs to it, a platter, 2 pewter dishes, a candlestick, a chaffer, a coffer, a spit, a table and form. To son Francis Joye 3 sheep, a calf, 3s. in money, a table, a form, and a platter. To son William Joy 3 sheep, a calf, a table, a form, a coffer and a pair of sheets. To his children Robert, George and Alis3 sheep each and a year old bullock or money to buy them. To son Georg Ioye the best brass pot, a table and coffer. To son Robert Joy a table and a coffer. To daughter Alis Joy a brass potthat cost 16d., 2 platters, a bed with all that belongs to it, and a coffer. Should any of the children die then their legacies to be distributed among the survivors. Residue to wife Jhoan Joye. Executors John King and wife Joan, they to dispose for testator’s soul as they think best, with the advice of Simond Lewper.
