Folio 54d - William Bekering/Bickring of Stepenlei made 9 May pr. 30 Oct. 1556. Testament “Sowle to allmightie god in heaven” and burial in churchyard of Stepenlei. To high altar there for tithes forgot 4d.; to mother church of Lincoln 2d.. To Simond Michell 20s.; to John Cane 20s. and a coat; to Elizabeth Rasse 6s. 8d.; to Thomas Forest 3s. 4d.; to Alis Bars 3s. 4d.; to Thomas Forest a frieze coat; to Thomas Gurnei the younger a worsted doublet and worsted coat; to testator’s sister Marie3s. 4d.; to Katerine Gurnei 3s. 4d.. Residue to wife Jone and she to be executrix and the other executor to be Alis Tell widow, testator’s mother in law, and Alis Tell to have for her work 20s.. Overseers to be Thomas Furnei the elder and Thomas Gurnei junior and they to have 10s.. Witnesses John Rolfe and Mathew Tylbrooke. Will All his lands in Stepenley to wife Jhoon’ for her life if she remain unmarried. On her death or remarriage property to go to Thomas Gurney the younger and his heirs.
