    Folio 37d - John Benet the elder of Chooltoon in the parish of Blunham made 9 Nov. [?]1554, pr. 19 Dec. 1556. “I bequeth my sowlle to the blessed trinitye to our blessed Lady Sainct Mary and to all the holly company of heaven” and burial in churchyard of Blunham. To the high altar for tithes forgotten 4d.; to mother church of Lincoln 2d.. To wife Margeret 2 milch beasts, 2 hogs, 10 sheep, his feather bed with the covering and all the stuff she brought with her that still remains, also the new woollen cloth and half the new linen, 3 chickens and half the poultry, and all her land in Blomham which is to be sown with sufficient tillage at the charge of testator’s son Thomas Benet, as he does his own, at the cost of the said Margeret, the year next ensuing after testator’s death. Also 2 quarters of barley each year for the 3 years next following testator’s death. To his son William one acre of free land in Soondey and half an acre on Evertoon Downe. Should William want to sell testator’s part of the land, then Thomas his brother is to have it in preference to any other purchaser, paying as much as any other will for it. To William also 2 oxen, the best cart, 2 horses and 6 sheep, the best brass pot, the best coffer, 2 pair of sheets, 2 platters, a pewter pot, a table cloth. To his two children William Benet and Ane Benet £6 13s. 4d. each; to his daughter Ane a cow, 6 sheep, the second coffer, 2 pair of sheets, the best table cloth, 4 platters of pewter, a latten basin, the second pan, the new kettle, a candlestick, a posnet, the green coverlet, the second chafing dish, a towel. To Agnes Hull 3 quarter of barley, 2 sheep, a bullock. Should William or Ane die under age, each to be heir to the other. To each of Robert Wardes children a sheep. Residue to son Thomas, he to be an executor, and Gefferye Hosburne the other executor, to whom 5s.. Witnesses Gabriell Power, William Ward, Robert [?]Smablode.
