    Folio 27d - Thomas Rallin/Rawlin of Stocton Parva [Little Staughton] husbandman made 27 Apr., pr. 8 Oct. 1556. “First I bequeth my soule to almightye god and to our blessid Ladye sainct Marye and to all the company of heaven” and burial in the churchyard of Stocton. To the high altar 2d.; for his mortuary as the law wills; to the church 3s. 4d. to buy “such thinges as yt nedeth”; to the bells 12d.. To son Richard £3, a table and an acre of barley and pease lying together at Kynerbolton Balke with all the stuff in his [?]chest and 6d. to go to his child. To each of Thomas [?]Merreles children 6d. To testator’s daughter Ellin the third part of his household goods and his biggest brass pan, 2 beasts, 4 quarters of barley, to be given to her on the day of her marriage. Should Ellen remain with testator’s wife Joan Rawlin and with testator’s son Henry Rawlin, they are to have their legacies at wife’s departure. To Thomas Rawlin the son of William Rawlin a calf which has been weaned this year and the calf to remain in the keeping of testator’s executors until it is 3 years old. Residue of goods to wife Jhoan and to sons John and Henry Rawlin who are executors, and they to occupy property together. Should any not wish to continue in this way, then the goods to be divided into 3 parts, and the leaver to take the third part. Should wife remarry she is to have 2 milch beasts and the third part of the household goods. Supervisor to be son Thomas, he to have 6s. 8d.. Witnesses sir Robert Rosse “chaplen”, Nicholas Smith, Henry Geffes.
