- TitleFolio 21d - Thomas Garret of Henlow, stringer, made 1 Aug. 1555 pr. 27 Mar. 1556. “I bequeth my sowle to allmighty god to our Ladye sanct Mary, and to all the holy company of heaven” and burial in churchyard of Henlawe To wife Sysylye the house where he dwells with all lands, meadows and pastures for her lifetime, keeping the same in sufficient repair, and on death of wife property to remain to Thomas Garret, the son of testator’s brother, and to his issue, according to a “scate of possession gyven by me unto the said Cicily my wyff and unto the said Thomas Garret my cosyn bering the date herof”. Should testator’s nephew Thomas Garret die without leaving any heir of his body, then the properties to go to Thomas Heyton for his lifetime and then to his heirs. Thomas Garret to pay to Thomas Heyton 40s. within 6 years of death of testator’s wife at 6s. 8d. every year. To Thomas Garret 4 dozen of “fromes” and a “hatchell” . Residue to wife Cycylye, sole executrix, and John Underwood and John Goodchep are to be supervisors. Witnesses James Tornor clerk, John Underwood and John Goodchep.
