Folio 18d - John Dickins of Ocleff [Hockliffe] made 7 May 1556, pr. 1556. Soul “to almighty God my maker saviour and Redemer thoreug whose pretious Death and Pation I trust to be savid and to have Remission of all my synnes and to his blessed mother vergin seint Marye and to all the blessid company of heavin” and burial in parish church yard of Hoclyf. To the mother church 1½ d.. Testator owes to Hobs of Layton 11s. 8d.. John Hosborne owes testator 20s.. To eldest son Wylliam Dickyns 2 quarters of barley. To second son Thomas 2 quarters of barley. To eldest daughter Alis 2 quarters of barley. To third son Robert a cow and a quarter of barley. To fourth son John a quarter of barley. To his sister’s son Thomas a quarter of barley. To testator’s sixth son Harry a quarter of barley. To youngest son John a quarter of barley. To youngest daughter Joan a quarter of barley. Residue to wife Isbell who is executrix, and overseers Mr. Sheppard and John West. Witnesses William Groome, Thomas Studes.
