  • Title
    Report of PC George Daniels stationed at Shefford. he had accompanied Inspector Elliott of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to stables at Clifton belonging to George Washinton, Coal Dealer of Clifton. He saw a mare which was in a very poor condition with a wound on the back, which appeared to be coverd with grease and was rubbed by the saddle. The mare also had a swollen, cracked fetlock. Mr Washington and his son were present. Mr Washington knew about the sore areas but did not think it would hurt the mare much if he sent his son with her to collect 16cwt of coal from the station. Report of Inspector William Elliott who commented on the poor condition of the horse, the wound on the back and the injured hind leg. Fine 1/6. Costs 18/6.
