    Conveyance Parties: (i) Charles Gazeley of Bedford, smith and Mary his wife; Charles Mellor of Dunstable, Beds, yeoman and Sarah his wife; Francis Tompkins of Milton Bryan, Beds, gamekeeper and Ann his wife; John Piddington Barlow of Woburn, Beds, labourer; George Barlow of Sandy, Beds, baker; George Mellor of Little Brickhill [Buckinghamshire], yeoman and William Staniford of Woburn, bricklayer; (ii) Francis, Duke of Bedford; (iii) Thomas Wing of Grays Inn [Middlesex], gentleman. Reciting: - will of John Piddington, late of Woburn, brazier, deceased dated 15th Apr 1817 whereby all his freehold and copyhold property was devised to his wife Elizabeth during her widowhood with remainder unto his daughter Ann Barlow, wife of William Barlow for her life with remainder to all the children of Ann; - John Piddington died in 1821 and his will was proved in Bedford on the 15th Oct 1821; - Elizabeth Piddington died in 1831; - Ann Barlow died in 1838 having had eight children: Rebecca who died an infant; said Mary Gazeley; Joseph Barlow who died unmarried and intestate in the year 1841; said Sarah Mellor; said Ann Tompkins; Hannah now wife of John London; said John Piddington Barlow and George Barlow; - John Piddington Barlow was the next brother and heir at law of the said Joseph Barlow; - release dated 9th Jun 1842 between (1) John London and Hannah his wife (2) George Mellor (3) Charles Gale whereby 1/7th share of (a) was conveyed by (1) to (2); - release dated 20th Jan 1844 between (1) John Piddington Barlow (2) William Staniford (3) Joseph States whereby 1/7th share of (a) was conveyed by (1) to (2); Operative: - in consideration of £57/2/10 each [£400 altogether] (i) conveys (a) to (ii). Property [see attached plan]: (a) eight cottages situate at the Great Yard, Woburn [Bedford Street], formerly five cottages numbered 29, 30 , 31, 32 and 33 now or late in the several occupations of Thomas Sinfield, John Capp, Ann Clare, John Pettitt, Charles Jones, John Morris, widow Perry and Thomas Robinson. Habendum: - unto (ii) to the use of whoever (ii) directs or appoints; - in default of such appointment, to the use of (ii) for his natural life; - after, to the use of (iii) in trust for (ii) or his assigns; - after, to the only use of (ii) his heirs and assigns forever. Covenants: - (i), (ii) and (iii) to produce deeds relating to (a) as and when required. - signed by (i); - witnessed and signed by John Green of Woburn, solicitor; William Harland, his clerk and C.R.
