Letter from Matilda Jane Day of Caldecote to Mr.Tanqueray… ‘I have not borrowed anything on my share of the property left by my grandfather Isaac Beak – Mr. Robert Miller has been dead a great many of years and no one has acted in his place, only the other trustees, my father, George Beak and his only brother, Daniel Beak – I do not think Mr. Osbourne’s executors would let us have a copy of his will, he died at Queenborough Ashburnham Road Hastings in the autumn of 1893 – in November, I think. In the event of our relations withdrawing their money from us and obliging us to give up the farm we should wish you to claim all money due to you from the farm, and only to come on our reversions in case there should not be enough money in the farm to satisfy your claim’.
