- TitleOccurrence Report of PC Robert King Stearn stationed at Arlesey. He had seen Charles Foster come from Miss Hailey's House at Arlesey. When asked what he had been there for, he replied ' for a drink of water'. PC Stearn took him back to the house and asked Miss Hailey what Foster had asked for. She replied that he had asked for money and she had given him a penny. Foster said he made a living from begging and that he had been in Bedford Gaol twice for assaults while an inmate of Luton Union. Sentence 14 days hard labour.
