Reciting: - court held 4th May 1717: admission of Ann Smith to (a) upon the death of her father Robert Smith for the residue of the term of 21 years; rent: £-/3/4; - court held 27th Sep 1722: admission of Ann Smith to (b) (term: residue of 21 years; rent: £-/6/8) and (c) (term: residue of 21 years; rent: £-/1/-); - Ann Smith on the 21st Feb 1725 surrendered (a-c) out of court to the use of Mathew Dennis of Woburn, blacksmith; - Mathew Denis on the 24th Mar 1726 conditionally surrendered (d) out of court to the use of Isabella Turner of Woburn subject to the repayment of £61/10/-; - Court held 19th July 1731: admission of Mathew Denis and Deborah his wife to (a-d) for their joint lives with remainders (see R6/63/15/1); - Mathew Denis died c.Apr 1736 and Deborah Denis died c.Sep 1733 leaving one son: John Dennis... 'of about fifteen years of age'. Operative: - admission of John Dennis by his guardian and uncle George Dennis of Woburn, barber and peruke maker to (a) upon the death of his father, Mathew Dennis. [Note: It does not seem that (b-d) are involved in this admission] Property: (a)... 'messuage or tenement in the High Street of Woburn adjoining to a smiths shop or forge there (which is on the north part of the said messuage or tenement which said messuage or tenement was formerly in the occupation of Kitson Shemeld and was of late years burnt down and hath since being rebuilt and is now in the occupation of Richard Barrett Blacksmith'; (b) smith shop or forge in the common highway or street of Woburn and a little area or yard belonging and also a leanto to the said shop... 'which said prem[is]es have of late years being also burned down and rebuilt', formerly in the occupation of Robert Cuthbert and now Francis Turner, gentleman; (c) barn and garden adjoining W onto the churchyard formerly in the occupations of Francis Turner and Richard Barrett; (d) two messuages or tenements situate at the North end of the Shambles in Woburn together with the barns, outbuildings etc. then in the tenure or occupation of Mathew Denis.
