Instructions issued by Benjamin Bourne. Clerk -Counsel states that ecclesiastical Courts may require "answer upon" oath or affirmation where persons are parties to the Suit, Or to examine witnesses & are not bound by any law to Causes Matrimonial or Testamentary except in cases of Churchwardens & personal tithes where advice of 7 of 9th 1746 still holds good. postscript re clause in Parl Bill re Affirmation & also relief of Merchant seamen.
