    Will and codicil of John Henry Spokes, father of John Henry Spokes junior (incumbent of Barton 1892-1928) in an envelope addressed to Mrs. Cory at Higham Gobion Rectory and postmarked 19 December 1895. (1)Will of John H. Spokes, St. Winifred's, Frances Road, Windsor, Berks. Appoints son, the Rev. John Henry Spokes, vicar of Sutton, Lincs., sole executor and trustee and bequeaths him £50 if he undertakes these duties. Give and bequeath to son all china in cases, oil paintings (except those given to daughter) and other pictures, all silver plate and oil paintings formerly belonging to Joseph Quartermaine, and iron safe Give and bequeath to daughter Eliza Mary, wife of Rev. Robert Frederick Cory, Vicar of Terrington St. John's, Norfolk [incumbent of Higham Gobion, 1893-1945] four oil paintings i.e. two landscapes and "The Magdalen" and "Venice" and blue and gold dessert service Give and bequeath to wife Joanna all linen, china in use, glass, books, prints, furniture and household goods in the house and after her death to the daughter Devise and bequeath to son freehold estates in Borough of Wallingford and parish of Cholsey, Berks., a freehold allotment at Long Sutton, Lincs., occupied by Mr. Frow, and leasehold house, 3 Mackenzie Villas, Mackenzie St., Slough, Bucks. Devise and bequeath to son freehold estates at Fleet, Lincs., in the respective occupations of Vincent Eastgate and Mrs. Cartwright and leasehold house 4, Mackenzie Villas, Mackenzie Street, Slough, Bucks. Upon Trust upon written request of said daughter during her life and after her decease at his uncontrolled discretion to sell the last mentioned freehold estates and leasehold house with power to let them until they are sold on a lease not exceeding 21 years and apply rents and profits as hereinafter directed Give and Bequeath residue of personal estate to son Upon Trust to convert into money and pay all debts, funeral expenses and the legacy of £50 and subject to such payments to be possessed of half the residue; the daughter to take the other halfAnd I declare that son shall hold proceeds of continued sale of freehold estates at Fleet and leasehold house, 4, Mackenzie Villas when sold together with last mentioned moiety of residuary estate Upon Trust to invest the same and pay income to my daughter, who has power to devise income to any surviving husband provided he shall remain unmarried after her decease In Trust for children and remoter issue of daughter at her discretion, who being male shall attain 21 years, or being female shall attain 21 years or marry, in equal shares, or if no children qualify then to be equally divided between son's child(ren) under the same terms Provided always that son can appoint additional trustee(s) Signed: John H.
