Information of PC Thomas Hebbes Stationed at Clifton . He was on duty in Shefford, with PC Sibley, near pin foot holes at about 8.00pm when he saw, Arthur Newman, Frederick Francis, George Gregory, William Gove and John Hills of Campton, Henry Thompson, George Smith and Frederick Bland of Shefford and John Woodward of Clifton. Francis, Gregory and Newman brought some bushes onto the highway. Thompson and Woodward set them on fire in the middle of the highway. Gore, Hills, Smith and Bland all took part in 'poking it up'. No-one could drive by without going over it.
