    James Handscombe stated that he heard footsteps of a man near the fowl house. He ran after him but couldn't catch him. He couldn't identify him. The following morning he a fowl with its neck broken also feathers which correspnded with feathers found on Eli Breed. The owner was George Cranfield, Stanford Bury Farmer. Furze apprehended the prisoner at Southill by the station. He found 2 fowls on him. He said he found them on the road, the Stanford Bury Road between the two gates on the farm. Furze said 'Do you mean Famr Yard', the prisoner said 'Yes'. He said there were 4 fowls, value 10/- Furze took him to Biggleswade. On the way the prisoner asked what he would get done to, whether he could get off by paying. Furze told him he did not know. Brred said that it was the first time he ever took anything and it would be the last. On searching him Furze found another breast of fowl, cooked.
