  • Title
    Information of PC Thomas Hebbes stationed at Clifton. The Constable was on duty at Clifton when he saw a tramp enter the house of George Hayes, Beerhousekeeper. The PC followed the tramp to the door and heard him beg of Mrs Hayes and several people in the tap room. He asked for money for his lodgings. Mrs Hayes said she had nothing to give him. He then offered some buttons for sale. When he left the beerhouse the Constable asked him what he had been doing.. He said he had been offering buttons for sale. The constable told him he had heard him begging and took him into custody. His name was Michael Maguire. He was sentenced for 21 days.
