Letter from Mortimer Matthews of the Registration Office, George Street, Woburn to F.T. Tanqueray, esquire, Superintendent Registrar… 'I beg to inform you that on August 22 last, I registered a birth on the information of the mother who described herself as a married women, and the wife of William Henry Judge. I had my suspicions at the time and particularly asked if she were married, to which she replied that she was. She had signed the Birth Registrar as such. From information received. I find she was married on Wednesday last at the Register Office, Ampthill. I have this morning also received a letter from Mr. W.G.C. Mitchell of Bedford which confirms the suspicion I had at the time of registration and I shall be glad if you will advise me as to the reply hereto'.
