Copy letter from F.T. Tanqueray of Ampthill to John Gates, esquire of Luton, solicitor... 'It seems to me that in order to give the County Court jurisdiction the value of the property concerned as regards equity must not exceed £500 and that as both properties are concerned they must neither of them exceed £500 in value Mr. Rushbrooke's of course largely exceeds that value. Again as regards sec.60 of the County Courts Act it is plain from the wording that both parties must be taken into consideration as to annual value and in this case Mr. Rushbrooke's house and grounds are worth far more than £100 per annum. There is no power to give jurisdiction by consent in equity matters'.
